New red line takes shape at Woburn Bike Park as summer opening nears

The Woburn Bike Park rebuild continues. In the latest update, we see a new red line, a new start tower at the top of the hill providing dedicated roll-ins for the blue, black, and red lines, and a boner log to allow the rebuilt legacy Transfer Line to cross the Watch Your Back line.

The start tower is a significant addition, meaning riders can roll straight into features from the top without having to pedal the first section of the hill, maximising the height and fun factor of every run.

The red line is being built with support from OnTrack, a trail building company that constructs trail centres and pump tracks across the UK. A three-person crew constructed much of the layout in a single day. The line runs from the new start tower roll-in at the top of the hill down into the lower dirt jump bowl, making it the longest run the bike park has had.

Features on the red line include a series of berms and shark fins in the upper section, toilet bowl-shaped step-up and step-down combinations in the mid section, two doubles in the lower section, a 180 left berm, and a long final section yet to be featured leading out into the dirt jump area. All features are designed to be rollable, with options to push the jumps further as riders become more confident. The line does not yet have a name, and Matt Jones is asking for suggestions.

A boner log has also been installed using timber from trees felled during the earlier forestry works. It spans across Transfer Line, allowing Watch Your Back to cross safely, and doubles as a freeride feature in its own right.

The bike park now has what feels like a comprehensive lane system running down the hill, with blue, black, green, blue, black, double black, and black lines in place or under development. Transfer Line and Stroganoff are among the original tracks, both retained and fully rebuilt. Stroganoff has been described as reborn, with a B line currently being considered for either red or black grading.

The bike park does not yet have a confirmed opening date, with Matt sharing there is some outstanding paperwork to work through. He expects clarity within the coming weeks and has committed to opening before summer.
