The 'Black' zone trails are gone
"Some of you may remember the Red trails at Learnie "washing machine hill" those trails where wiped out after felling some time ago. Fast forward to 2025 and after raising concerns prior to felling on the Black we where assured efforts would be made to preserve those trails. We expected to loose the unsanctioned stuff but as you can see again wiped out."
Volunteers stepping back
The post also confirmed that the Black Isle Trails Association is no longer actively working with Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS). The group says their small team of volunteers became burnt out trying to push for trail preservation and collaboration:
“We expected to work with FLS not fight against them, and we all just ran out of steam.”
Uncertain future for Learnie
With more felling due in the blue trail zone, the outlook is uncertain. The group signed off with a note of quiet frustration: “At least we will have a nice car park for campervans.”
