There is quite a bit happening Brechfa way. Brechfa forest is already well known for its red Gorlech, black Raven and green Derwen trails in this mountain bike region and base.
Like this?
So two main goings on in this region.
- The first is Brechfa MTB (CIC) about 6 months ago finalised their maintenance contract with Natural Resources Wales permitting them to help maintain the Brechfa MTB trail network. Already seeing the fruits of what would have been a hard graft journey to get there. For example:
- The club has recently been successful in an application for funding towards courses and equipment. This means they will soon have our very own welfare trailer to use as a base of operations to run trail maintenance days!
- On top of that, they will also be running a shedload of courses, including first aid and guiding!
- There are rumours of a visitors centre. Be great to get that validated or not if anyone knows. Be exactly what's needed to make this region a stronger MTB destination.
- Secondly, right on the doorstep is the soon-to-launch Hafod Trails a new uplift bike park that is family and kid-friendly but has something for all abilities from green to black trails. 5 trails initially will go live with a good mix of flow and tech. More jump-focused tracks will come in time but the initial offering for its planned upcoming spring opening looks mint. It's around 5 miles by car between the two so definitely worth checking out both as a trip.
So check out the iBikeRide Brechfa and Hafod listings. Get a trip planned, share your reviews on the listings and let us know your thoughts below.
