Laggan Wolftrax Upgrades Trails for Adaptive MTB

Laggan Wolftrax has seen a major upgrade to improve accessibility and inclusivity on its trail network. Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS) and the community-run Laggan Forest Trust (LFT) have worked together to make the green and blue trails more suitable for adaptive bikes and beginner riders!

The Wolf Cub Green trail at Laggan Wolftrax has been widened and resurfaced, with significant improvements to drainage. The Give & Take climb has also been upgraded to accommodate a wider range of adaptive bikes. These changes aim to support disabled riders while also benefiting those new to mountain biking.

The project has been made possible through contributions from partners including FLS, LFT, Cairngorms National Park Authority, Highland and Islands Enterprise, Sport Scotland and input from disabled mountain biker Dave Bower. The upgrades celebrate 20 years of collaboration between FLS and LFT.

British Paralympic medallist Karen Darke recently tested the trails on her adaptive bike, praising the progression and inclusivity they offer. She highlighted how the improvements allow riders of different abilities to share the same riding experience.

The centre’s ongoing development also helps sustain the local economy, providing employment and attracting visitors to the area.
