The film follows riders and trail builders as they revisit the reworked Nae Spleens line, originally built around 2015 by local riders Gary Neil and Pete. The trail was initially shaped as a steep technical descent and has retained much of its original identity following maintenance and forestry-related adjustments.
Nae Spleens is a steep, technical descent throughout. The trail features rooty sections, alongside tight rocky constrictions and chute-like features. The trail also includes natural rock work and armouring, with extensive stone pitching and stabilisation, particularly on the exit and sidehill sections. Overall, it retains a rough, raw surface and a strong reliance on natural terrain.
Nae Spleens was originally developed around 2015 as a locally built technical trail in the Golfie network at Innerleithen. The line has since been shaped by both rider-built progression and more recent forestry operations, with parts of the original corridor retained where possible and other sections adjusted to accommodate access and timber activity. Recent work has focused on stabilising exposed and eroded areas, including rock armouring and rebuilding key sections affected by machine activity. The exit has also been reworked to better align with active forestry traffic routes, reflecting the shared use of the hillside between riding and land management operations.
The restoration work is described as largely preserving the original trail character, with sections retained where forestry alignment allowed and other areas rebuilt where machine activity affected the line.
The project forms part of ongoing work across the Golfie network supported by the Tweed Valley Trails Association, working alongside forestry partners and volunteers.
