New Dingwall Black Jump Line is built but not yet open

Dingwall Mountain Bike Trail Group has finished building a new Black Jump Line at Knockbain, but it will stay closed until the ground has had time to bed in.

The volunteer group announced it on its Facebook page, saying the line was finished later than expected and, with the current conditions, cannot open yet. The group says it will open the trail when it is in a position to.

The line is the latest addition to the community trails at Knockbain Farm, on the edge of Dingwall, which already include a red descent, the Knockbain Blue flow trail and a jump line. Our Dingwall Mountain Bike Trails listing has the details and how to get there.

Who made it happen

A sign at the line credits sportscotland and the Gordon and Ena Baxter Foundation with the funding, with further financial support from RJ McLeod, Global Infrastructure and Campbell Plant Hire, and materials from JD Pipes and Capstone Construction. The group also thanked Knockbain Farm, Ronan Taylor for the hard work on the line, and the local supporters who bought raffle tickets.

The raffle, run with Dryburgh Cycles, was part of the fundraising for a new trail at Knockbain that we reported in February. That month, Highland Council's Dingwall and Seaforth Area Committee also awarded the group £6,715 from its Community Regeneration Funding for "a new, more challenging trail at Knockbain".
