New Black trail Dark Matter takes shape at BikePark Wales

The BikePark Wales trail crew is currently building Dark Matter, a new Black-grade trail branching directly off the established Blackadder trail in Gethin Woods and featuring huge gap jumps, technical features, and an incredible woodland corridor.

The trail's headline feature is a large wooden drop, situated right at the top of the course where it splits from Blackadder. From there, the trail winds through the forest's steep, undulating natural terrain, hand-cleared, raked and taped out by the crew to create a raw, technical section that contrasts with the park's more machine-built jump lines elsewhere at BikePark Wales.

Deeper into the woodland corridor, riders reach the trail's jump line: a series of four large, high-consequence jumps. These were built ahead of the current testing phase, and the crew is now actively refining them to dial in the intended speed and flow.

The full trail line has now been cut through the woods. Current work is focused on fine-tuning the natural middle sections, clearing remaining debris, and finishing the "snedding" (branch clearance) along the tree line.

Dark Matter is not yet open to ride. No opening date has been confirmed, so check BikePark Wales' socials before planning a visit.
