ChatMTB is powered by Perplexity and prioritises ibikeride.com content. Ask anything!
If you've used ChatMTB — the AI trail guide built into ibikeride.com — you may have noticed it's been getting sharper. There have been some significant upgrades under the hood, and it's worth knowing how to get the most out of it.

What's changed
ChatMTB now knows exactly what page you're on. Whether you're looking at a trail listing, an event, or a news article, the assistant reads the page content and uses it to answer your questions directly. Ask it "is this trail good for beginners?" on a trail page, "when does this start?" on an event, or "summarise this" on a news article, and it'll answer from what's in front of you.
The sources it draws on have also been tightened up. ChatMTB now prioritises ibikeride content first, supplements with trusted UK MTB sources when needed, and quietly ignores irrelevant overseas results, so you won't get suggestions for trail centres in Missouri when you're planning a weekend in Wales.
Tips for getting the best out of it
On a trail or event page, ask short, direct questions. The assistant already knows the context.
On the homepage, mention where you're based. Something like "I'm in Yorkshire, intermediate rider, where should I ride this weekend?" will get a much more useful answer than a generic question.
Follow-up questions work — the chat remembers the conversation, so you can dig deeper without repeating yourself.
ChatMTB is still evolving. Give it a whirl.
As always, if something's wrong or missing on a listing, let us know.
