BikePark Wales Launches Four-Round Winter Downhill Series

BikePark Wales has launched a Winter Downhill Series for the 2026/27 season, with four rounds of racing planned across some of the park's toughest Red and Black natural tech trails: Ych A Fi, Boomslang, Root Manoeuvres and 50 Shades of Black.

The bike park will remain open as normal on race weekends, and the usual winter uplift service will run throughout the day, so riders can lap other trails between race runs rather than waiting around.

Three entry options are available. A Race Day Pass (£64) covers uplift access and race entry for the Sunday. A Weekend Race Pass (£112) adds uplift access for the Saturday practice day, saving up to 10 percent versus booking separately. A Series Race Bundle (£360) covers practice and race uplift plus entry for all four rounds, saving up to £136, or 27 percent.

Each round has a dedicated Saturday practice day, with the course open to the public but not marshalled. On race Sunday, sign on opens at 8am, with uplift and practice from 9:30am, the course closing at midday, timed runs at 12:30pm and 2pm, and podiums at 4:30pm. Two timed runs are planned per rider at each round, though if delays push the schedule back, run one times will decide results and run two may be cancelled.

Categories run from 13-14 up to 50+, in men's and women's classes, plus an Open E-bike 14+ class for men and women. The minimum age for any race is 13, or 14 on an e-bike. Riders aged 15 and under can ride the race track unaccompanied on race day, since it's marshalled, but need an adult with them on Saturday practice days and anywhere else in the park. Riders chasing the overall series title should enter based on the age they will turn in 2027, and use the same category across all four rounds. Riders not contesting the overall can choose a different category for later rounds if their age bracket changes over the season.

Round dates:

  • 14 November 2026 (practice) and 15 November 2026 (race) - Ych A Fi
  • 12 December 2026 (practice) and 13 December 2026 (race) - Boomslang
  • 16 January 2027 (practice) and 17 January 2027 (race) - Root Manoeuvres
  • 20 February 2027 (practice) and 21 February 2027 (race) - 50 Shades of Black

Entries are open now via the BikePark Wales events page, and the park has said places are expected to fill quickly.
