Les Deux Alpes Bike Park

Les Deux Alpes Bike Park is a lift-served mountain biking area in the French Alps' Oisans region, with downhill, enduro and cross-country riding dropping from as high as 3,200m on the glacier down to the village at 1,650m. The graded network runs 3 green, 6 blue, 8 red and 3 black pistes, plus two ungraded Elite lines for experts only, alongside three enduro routes and six cross-country and e-MTB itineraries. The whole area covers more than 138km of marked terrain with over 2,300m of vertical descent, served by four lifts through the summer season. Each June the resort hosts Mountain of Hell, one of Europe's biggest mass-start downhill races.

The Trails

• Green (3), Blue (6), Red (8) and Black (3): the main lift-served downhill and bike park pistes, spread across the Diable, Venosc, Vallee Blanche and Jandri sectors.
• Elite (2): ungraded, expert-only lines above black grade.
• Beginner area: a dedicated learner zone at Vallee Blanche has recently doubled in size, alongside a free "Easy to Ride" area with skills modules and a pump track.
• Enduro (3 routes): mixed climbing and descending terrain, including Rocky Line from the Jandri mid-station at 2,600m and Cuculet from the Jandri pass, both through wild, rocky high-mountain ground, plus Petite Aiguille starting from the Chemin des Demoiselles.
• Cross-country and e-MTB (6 routes): waymarked itineraries for pedal-power riders, including Vallons de Bons, La Moliere and Le Thuit, graded from green through to black.
• Mountain of Hell: the resort's own mass-start downhill course, rideable as a normal itinerary outside race week.

Admission and Lift Passes

• The 2026 bike park season runs full-time from 13 June to 30 August, with weekend-only access from 4 May and a Venosc-sector-only pre-season from 11 April.
• A day pass costs 33 euros for an adult or junior, 26 euros for a child or senior, and 24 euros per person for a family group of three or more. Four-hour, six-day and season passes are also available.
• Prices are correct as of September 2026 but subject to change, so check current rates on the official pass site before you book.

Guides, Shuttles and Hire

Uplift here comes from the bike park's own lifts rather than a van shuttle, with day, multi-day and season passes covering the network. A handful of resort-based operators sell hire bikes and run coaching, courses and shuttle-supported enduro days alongside the lifts.

• Bike Infinity: the resort's state-qualified mountain bike school, running private and group lessons, downhill and enduro courses and multi-day training camps for kids through advanced riders, based at Intersport Le Stellalpes on Avenue de la Muzelle.
• Gravier Sports: downhill, enduro and electric mountain bike hire, based at the entrance to the resort on Avenue de la Muzelle.
• Jacques Sports: downhill, enduro and electric mountain bike hire by the half day or full day, based at the foot of the slopes near the Diable gondola.
• Ride Camps: a British-run operator offering private lessons, week-long bike park and enduro camps, and shuttle-supported enduro coaching.

Getting There from the UK

Grenoble is the nearest airport, with the resort around two hours away by road via Bourg d'Oisans. Lyon Saint-Exupéry and Geneva are wider options with more UK flight choices, around two and a half and three hours away respectively. Shared and private transfers run from all three, and a summer bus service links Grenoble with Bourg d'Oisans, where you change onto a connecting service up to the resort.

By rail, take the Eurostar to Paris or Lille and a TGV south towards Grenoble, changing where needed. Grenoble is the nearest mainline station, around 70km from the resort, with year-round shuttle services running from the Gare Routiere up to Les Deux Alpes. Bikes need planning on the high-speed legs: Eurostar carries only small bagged bikes within the standard luggage allowance, with a separate paid baggage service for full-size bikes booked in advance, and TGV requires bikes to be bagged or boxed to travel in the luggage area. Regional TER trains take bikes assembled and free of charge, space permitting.

Driving from Calais or the Channel Tunnel is around 935km, roughly nine hours on toll motorways via Paris and Lyon towards Grenoble, then through Bourg d'Oisans and up to the resort. Having a car makes it easy to bring your own bikes and kit, and to reach the other Oisans bike parks, including neighbouring Alpe d'Huez on the other side of the valley.

Once in the resort, the main bike park lift, Jandri Express, departs from Le Meijotel in the centre of Les Deux Alpes, where you will also find the ticket office and several of the hire shops. Bike wash points are at the Diable and Venosc lift bases.

When to Go

The lift-served season typically opens with weekend-only access from around the start of May, before running full-time from mid-June to the end of August, when all sectors and the glacier-top trails are open. Exact dates shift a little each year, so check the resort's site before booking.

Mid-July to mid-August is the busiest stretch, coinciding with French school summer holidays. Mountain of Hell, the resort's mass-start downhill race, runs each June and draws a big crowd of riders and spectators, and Les 2 Alpes also runs a women-only bike park weekend each summer. Outside these peaks, the first and last few weeks of the season tend to be quieter.

With trails dropping from the glacier at 3,200m down to the village at 1,650m, conditions vary hugely across a single run: it can be cold, windy or even snowing at the top on a warm day in the valley, so carry a layer for the descent. Afternoon thunderstorms build through the summer and can close lifts and trails temporarily, so ride the upper mountain earlier in the day where possible.

Where to Stay

Les Deux Alpes itself is the natural base, since the Jandri Express and the other bike park lifts all leave from the resort centre, alongside the hire shops, cafes and bike wash points. Accommodation runs from chalets and hotels to self-catered apartments and residences, with options across every budget right by the lifts.

For a quieter stay, the village of Venosc, reached by gondola from the resort, and the older village of Mont-de-Lans, on the road up from Bourg d'Oisans, both keep their traditional character and sit a short lift or drive from the lift base. Riders wanting to split a trip across the Oisans can also base themselves in neighbouring Alpe d'Huez, on the other side of the valley from Bourg d'Oisans.

Women's Groups and Sessions

Les 2 Alpes runs Girls Shredding Days each summer, a women-only weekend on the bike park with professional coaching for riders who have already ridden green and blue trails, fronted by enduro racer Isabeau Courdurier.

Local Events

• Mountain of Hell is Les Deux Alpes' signature MTB event, a mass-start downhill race down the mountain each June. The 2026 edition, the 26th running, took place from 19 to 21 June and drew over 1,000 riders across classic, e-bike and kids' categories.
