Description

Woody's Bike Park, near Par in Cornwall, permanently closed on 2 August 2026 after nine years as Cornwall's first purpose-built uplift-assisted downhill and freeride bike park. This listing is kept as a record of the trails and the family-run park that built them. At its peak the park ran 8 named trails from blue to a pro-only yellow-graded line, including red downhill runs and black jump lines built with berms, drops and Cornish granite rock gardens.

The Trails

  • Woody's ran progressive lines for every ability, from blue to black, plus one professional-only line. Expect berms, jumps, drops, flow and rocky sections, built with the aim of bringing a taste of British Columbia-style trail building to Cornwall. Shark fin features grew bigger through the grades, and the downhill tracks ran fast and technical over rock gardens of Cornish granite, with steps, drops and road gaps.
  • Es Ol (Blue, Intermediate): a smooth, flowing hedge-line track with small berms and jumps, suitable for all abilities.
  • Blue Jump (Blue, Intermediate): a rollable jump trail with tables and flowing berms.
  • Dirt Wave (Red, Advanced, Jump): a rollable jump trail with steep sections, a rock garden, berms, rollers and tables.
  • Granite Garden (Red, Advanced): a fast, narrow downhill singletrack with granite rock gardens and technical features, leading into a rock gully with challenging lines.
  • Red DH (Red, Advanced): a fast dirt flow track with a dirt shoot, technical berms and off-camber slashes.
  • Twisted Sister (Black, Expert, Jump): a fast, flowing jump trail that demanded commitment, with gaps, road gaps, step-downs and a 50-foot double halfway down.
  • Valley of the Bones (Black, Expert, DH): a black downhill run starting on big tables before dropping into the "slash pit", where a rock garden and step-down doubles tested the best riders.
  • Digger (Yellow, Pro): the park's most advanced and technical line, professional level only, designed by Jasper Flashman, with huge step-downs to step-ups, massive doubles, deep berms, shark fins and gaps.

Getting Here

Woody's Bike Park was located at Higher Lampetho Farm, Fowey, Cornwall, PL23 1JU. Sat nav for PL23 1JU brought riders to a Texaco garage; from that junction, the A3082 towards Par led to the park's sign, half a mile along on the right.

Local Organisations

Before the park's closure, The Cornwall Bicycle Project, a Focus Club within the British Cycling Limitless Programme, ran adaptive coaching and races locally in Cornwall, including sessions on Woody's blue trail. The Cornwall Bicycle Project continues to operate elsewhere in the county.
