Description
Wellington Pump Track is a free asphalt pump track on the Recreation Ground in Wellington, Somerset: a single continuous circuit of rollers and berms, built for bikes, scooters, skateboards and skates.
The Track
The track is one continuous asphalt circuit of rollers and berms, ridden by pumping through the dips and rollers to build momentum rather than pedalling. It is free to use and open to bikes, scooters, skateboards, skates and other wheeled users.
Who Built It
Clark and Kent Contractors built the track for Wellington Town Council, working in partnership with Wellington Sports Federation and the Wellington Pumptrack, Skatepark and Dirt Jumps group, a local volunteer group that also wants to redevelop the town's existing skatepark and dirt jumps.
Nearby
Wellington also has Welly Jumps, a separate, longer-standing community dirt jump spot at the Sports Centre on Corams Lane, plus a skatepark at Grooms Orchard. These are separate sites from the pump track, though the same volunteer group is involved across all of them.
