Torbay Velopark

Torbay Velopark is a traffic-free cycling venue at Clennon Valley in Paignton, Devon, run from Torbay Leisure Centre. For bike riders it offers a tarmac pump park, a 1.5km closed road circuit with 1km and 0.5km loop options, and a permanent cyclocross course. It is billed as the only outdoor closed road circuit in Devon and Cornwall, and with bike hire, including accessible bikes, and the leisure centre's cafe and changing rooms next door, it suits families, young riders and anyone who wants to ride away from traffic.

The Pump Park

The pump park is a tarmac-surfaced loop of banked turns, rollers and jumps, with extra park-style features such as ramps and bowls, so there is more to session than on a standard pump track.

• Open to BMX bikes, mountain bikes, skateboards, scooters and skates
• Balance bikes are welcome with a parent helping

The Closed Road Circuit

The Velopark's main circuit is a smooth, flat tarmac loop closed to traffic, used for general riding, coaching, club training and events.

• 1.5km full circuit, with 1km and 0.5km loop options
• A smaller apron circuit where young riders can practise road safety
• Coaching sessions with British Cycling qualified coaches
• Helmets must be worn at all times

The circuit also hosts Torbay Velopark parkrun at 9am on Saturdays and a junior parkrun at 9am on Sundays, so plan around those if you want the circuit to yourself.

The Cyclocross Course

A permanent cyclocross course built to national competition standard sits within the Velopark, mixing grass, mud and gravel with purpose-built obstacles.

Admission and Booking

• Pump Park: adult £3.90, junior £3.20
• Velopark circuit: adult £4.10, junior £3.40, booked in one-hour sessions through the leisure centre timetable or app
• Check in at the main leisure centre reception when you arrive, where you will be given the entry code for the day
• First-time visitors should contact the centre before booking
• Junior gym members and swimming lesson members can use the pump track as part of their membership

Getting Here

• Park in Clennon Valley car park on Penwill Way, Paignton, TQ4 5JR, the leisure centre car park beside the Velopark. It is pay and display, with payment by card, cash or the RingGo app.
• The car park has a 2.05m (6'9") height barrier, so check your clearance if you carry bikes on a roof rack. Drivers of taller vehicles can call the leisure centre on 01803 522240 to arrange access.
• From the A380, follow signs for Paignton and Goodrington, then turn into Penwill Way.
