Pump Track
The track is a continuous-loop asphalt pump track made up of rollers and bermed turns, designed to be ridden by generating momentum rather than pedalling. The layout is suitable for beginners while still offering enough flow to keep more experienced riders engaged.

Builder
The pump track was built by Clark & Kent Contractors, a UK-based specialist contractor known for delivering pump tracks, BMX tracks and skateparks across the country.
Funding and background
The project was delivered by Thornley Parish Council following a local public consultation, which showed strong community support for a pump track in the village. Funding came from a combination of sources, including Thornley Parish Council, Durham County Council support, the East Durham Area Action Partnership, the Sir James Knott Trust, and a grant from the Durham Police and Crime Commissioner.
The track was developed to provide an accessible outdoor activity space for young people and families, and to offer a positive recreational facility within the village.
