Description
Standon Bowers Pump Track is a BMX pump track at Standon Bowers Outdoor Education Centre on Weston Lane in Standon, near Stafford, Staffordshire. Built by Clark and Kent Contractors for Staffordshire County Council, it was designed mainly to give primary school children a beginner-friendly BMX riding experience. It is part of the centre's school and group programmes, so riding is by booking through the centre rather than turn-up.
Pump Track
The track is cut into a sloping site, which helps give it a fast, flowing feel while keeping the layout manageable for less experienced riders. It combines an asphalt start hill, sloping berms and return paths with a pale limestone riding surface on the rollers, so it works as a proper introduction to pumping, cornering and carrying speed.

Who Can Ride
Standon Bowers is an outdoor education centre run by Entrust, and the track is used by the centre's own visitors. BMX is one of the activities on its school residentials and day visits, and the centre has also run school-holiday adventure days for children that include BMX. There is no drop-in riding advertised, so contact the centre before planning a visit, and check Entrust's website for what is currently on offer.
Beyond the Pump Track
The centre has a wide range of other activities, including archery, bushcraft, climbing, a high ropes course, caving, scrambling, watersports and trekking. School groups can stay on site in the main house, in two further houses or in the camping field, and the centre takes both residential and day groups all year round.
Getting Here
Use ST21 6RD for Weston Lane in Standon, then follow the signs into the centre. The track is in a field a short distance north of the main buildings, so report to the centre on arrival rather than walking in.
