Description

Scadson Freeride Park

Scadson Freeride Park sits in Scadson Woods, Paignton, on 13 acres of woodland in Torbay, Devon. It is a membership-gated, volunteer-built downhill and freeride park with 10 graded lines (including two alternative routes off Dirty Burger), a dedicated 4X track, a short XC loop and a skills training area. The trail-building crew keeps adding to the park, with several current lines opened as recently as 2020/21.

The Trails

Riding at Scadson requires membership, either an annual pass (ยฃ35) or a day pass (ยฃ5.50), both bookable through the club's website. All lines are built to International Mountain Bike Association guidelines and were routed to avoid badger setts and important wildflower areas.

  • Training Wheels (Blue), the beginner line
  • Slippery Weasel (Red)
  • Dirty Burger (Red), the main line to the bottom, with two alternative routes: Step-Up Line and J-Line
  • Loam, opened during the 2020/21 lockdowns
  • Pine Line, added in 2020/21
  • Red Wizard (Black), doubles as Scadson's dedicated 4X track
  • Black Pig (Black), revamped in 2020/21
  • Black DH (Black), the newest line, started in 2020/21

Every track combines berms, kickers, gap jumps, tabletops, whoops, drops, rock gardens, step-downs and step-ups.

XC Loop and Skills Area

  • A short XC loop runs around the perimeter of the park, with progression features aimed at newer and younger riders.
  • A dedicated skills training area offers a wide range of riding obstacles for building confidence before heading onto the main tracks.
