Ribbesford Bike Park

Ribbesford Bike Park was a small downhill bike park on the edge of the Wyre Forest, just outside Bewdley in Worcestershire. It ran for over 20 years before landowner Forestry England closed it in 2022, and its three trails have since been removed.

The Trails

Ribbesford Bike Park's three downhill tracks, Old Skool, The Rib Tickler and Spare Ribs, are no longer rideable. Forestry England confirmed the closure in 2022, and Trailforks now lists the site as permanently closed, with the trails no longer maintained or listed as an active venue.

  • Old Skool had 2 rollable jumps with technical root sections and berms, a natural run suited to beginners and seasoned riders alike.
  • The Rib Tickler was a fast paced single track run with flowing jumps, root sections, gap jumps, hip jumps and large bermed corners, aimed at intermediate and advanced riders.
  • Spare Ribs was a natural, flowy and technical single track incorporating flat, off cambered and bermed corners.

Why It Closed

Forestry England cited a rapid rise in visitor numbers with no suitable on-site parking, disruption from riders parking on Heightington Road, and the site's status as Plantation on Ancient Woodland with protected wildlife. A 2021 community petition to save the trails gathered over 700 signatures but did not change the outcome.

Riding Nearby

The waymarked Blue cross country trail in the wider Wyre Forest remains open and is unaffected by the Ribbesford closure.
