The Lanhydrock trails are located just north of the Lanhydrock estate near Bodmin, Cornwall in South West England. They are targeted at families and novices.

Lodge Trail - Green

  • The Lodge trail is 2.5km long and suitable for families and beginners. This track is wide, well surfaced and has no challenging technical features

Blue Trails

  • The blue trails consist of Bazley's trail - 3km, Walter's trail - 1km, Hart trail - 1.5km and Timber trail - 1.5km (the latter has short optional red grade sections)

Red Trail - Dual Slalom

  • The Saw Pit – 0.3 miles (500m). The Saw Pit is a dual-slalom race track, featuring tightly packed rollers, jumps and banked corners. The trail features two tracks running side by side downhill, giving you the opportunity to race friends and family. It is suitable for Adaptive Mountain bikes.

Skills Area

  • There is also a cycle skills area. This is the perfect place to start your off-road cycling adventure in Cornwall, allowing you to practice and progress your skills. You'll find many of the features found on the cycle trails, including rollers, rocks and jumps. The skills area also includes a balance bike track, designed to control speed, and improve the confidence of young cyclists.

Since I first visited the trails I've tried to get over to Lanhydrock as often as possible both on my own and with the family and have had some real laugh out loud moments there, the best of which must be flying down the Hart trail into a sea of bluebells. A truly breathtaking scene.

What do you like?

The trails are fun and flowy, even uphill sections seem to pull you on. They are arranged so that you can try them individually but they lead well enough into each other that you can treat them as a whole. It's free. You can ride at anytime and in most weather. The trails are never crowded even when the car park is full. There's a skills track to practice on and a mini track for kids/ balance bikes (also a playground for the kids). The flapjacks from the cafe are top notch. It pairs up nicely with Cardinham Woods down the road for a fantastic day of riding. It's close enough to Cardinham Woods to make a brilliant days riding.

What could be improved?

Can't think of any. I've never left with anything other than a big grin on my face.

Would you recommend?

*Yes*

Love it

Good for absolute beginners starting out, more seasoned mountain bikers best looking elsewhere.

What do you like?

Green and easy blue trails good for an introduction to mountain biking.

What could be improved?

Poor confusing signage, arrived by bike from Bodmin on the cycle route and took us 20 mins to find trail head! Cyclist have to dismount to get through facilities to trail head - surely enough space for dedicated cycle route through facilities? More experienced riders will get bored quick with lack of variety best giving this a miss and going to Cardinham a couple of miles away.

Would you recommend?

*No*
