Description

Elvaston Castle Trials Park is a free bike trials park in the woods of Elvaston Castle Country Park, south-east of Derby. Built entirely from wood, it bills itself as the UK's first publicly owned trials park, with log sections for riders of all abilities and a weekly Thursday meet.

The Trials Park

  • A bike trials park for slow, technical riding over and between obstacles, where balance and control count rather than speed.
  • The sections are built from big felled tree trunks and logs, set out in woodland on a wood-chip floor and marked out with tape, and more are still being added.
  • Designed for riders of all abilities, from first-timers to competition riders. The park has hosted rounds of national trials competition and trials for young riders.
  • Free to use during reasonable daylight hours.
  • Riders meet every Thursday from 4pm, and organised sessions run regularly through the summer. Check the park's Instagram page for news, sessions and events.

Also in the Park

Elvaston Castle Country Park is a Derbyshire County Council park of about 321 acres around the Gothic Revival castle. A bridleway runs around the perimeter of the estate, National Cycle Route 6 passes through, and there is a play area for young children in the main car park. Cycling is not allowed on the nature reserve trail.
