Description

Eastridge Woods mountain bike trails are in a hilltop woodland setting in the Shropshire Hills near the town of Minsterley in England. The woodland terrain is rooty, rocky and as you would expect prone to a little bit of mud. There is an official 8km red trail and 3 short downhill tracks built in partnership with Eastridge Trail Partnership and Forestry England.

Like this?

Eastridge Woods is part of The Marches and is reasonably close to both Hopton Woods and the Long Mynd mountain bike trails. All in all, Shropshire has a pretty decent MTB scene going on.

Revelation Trail (Red XC)

  • The Revelation trail is graded a difficult red and is an 8km (5 miles) waymarked route. The trail surface is rocky, rooty, muddy, uneven, loose surface with steep climbs and sharp descents. There are tight corners, berms, rocks, drops, and logs. Look out for Eastbridge's characteristic exposed roots and sharp jagged rocks.  It has quite a reputation and folk either love or hate the trail it seems.
  • There are a number of ungraded trails at Eastridge

Downhill Trails

  • There are three official downhill trails at Eastridge. A couple are highlighted below

98 DH (Orange)

  • The 98 DH is graded severe and is a 0.8km  (0.5 miles) descent. This track is for experienced mountain bikers only. Along the routes you will find berms, descents, jumps and turns.

Student Champs Downhill

  • The Students Champs Downhill trail is as the name suggests used for this competition and is 0.5km (0.3 miles) in length

Groups and Clubs

  • The Eastridge Trail Partnership is a group of local riders working with the Forestry Commission to improve the riding in these woods. So far the ETP have worked to link up the best bits of trail in the wood to bring about the Revelation trail. If you are interested in getting involved contact the ETP through their facebook page

Trail Map

  • The Forestry commission have put together a helpful trail map. You can find it here.

Eastridge - great Singletrack!

I hadn't been to Eastridge since '94 until this year. I remembered it being good and it still was. The trails were ace :) I didn't ride a marked route as such, many of the trails start at the high point in the center, and descend from there in all directions. Each descent was great, they were fast, techy. A full weekend of fun was had. There might not be much variety but why have something different from awesome wooded singletrack techy descent!

What do you like?

Lots of awesome downhill singletrack. Quite technical

What could be improved?

Limited facilities, maybe not for novices.

Would you recommend?

*Yes*

Classic Venue

Eastridge has been used for riding and racing for years but kind of fell out of favour. Luckily the Eastridge Trail Partnership (look them up of Facebook) got together and sorted the trails, constructing an excellent red trail. It may only be around 10km long but it's go some gutsy climbs and steep descents.

What do you like?

The red trail, great fun.

What could be improved?

Not really a bad point but there are no facilities at the carpark, so bear that in mind

Would you recommend?

*Yes*
