Description
Derbyshire Biketrial Centre is a dedicated bike trials park on a farm above Wirksworth, on the edge of the Peak District. Run by the Weightman family, home to world champion trials riders, it has sections for riders from beginners to experts, regular open sessions, bikes to hire and tuition on request.
The Trials Park
- A purpose-built bike trials venue, for slow, technical riding over and between obstacles, where balance and control count rather than speed.
- The sections are set out in groups across a grass field bounded by dry stone walls: concrete pipes, rings and slabs, posts and beams, sandstone blocks and boulders, and timber.
- Designed for every level, from beginners to experts. The centre hosts national competition, including the British trials championships.
Sessions, Hire and Tuition
- Open sessions usually run on Wednesday evenings, and the centre sometimes closes for events. Check the centre's Facebook page for this week's times before you travel.
- A small selection of trials bikes is available to hire, and tuition is available on request.
- Guest coaches also run group coaching days here from time to time.
