Rocky fun

Although there is only a blue trail it is definitely worth the visit. It has some good descents with a lot of up and down all day! For anyone that prefers a bike park or groomed trail this won't be the place for you!

What do you like?

Some good fun sections

What could be improved?

Disappointed with the lack of berms

Would you recommend?

*Yes*

Excellent use of what is quite a small woodland area in a valley

Took bike for holiday in Cornwall, after first day with a stead ride down the camel trail followed by a lap of the blues at Lanhydrock trail centre, I was not expecting anything more than a few steady tame trails, could not be more wrong! The Blue bodmin beast is probably closer to an average Red trail at other centres! After the first mile or so of a good solid climb up I was loving the flow around the next 4-5 miles of undulating singletrack mixed in with a few sections of firetrails. Very tranquil, beautiful scenery set near an old mine in the wooded valley. Also recommend the longer trail walk that takes in some stunning views. (Combine all the trails to get about a 7-8 mile route with a few sharp climbs). Best mountain biking that I know of in Cornwall, will certainly be visiting again next time I am down that way on!

What do you like?

Blue nice and progressive, warms up into some nice following technical descents 2x reds for more adventurous (read as extremely fit for Hells teeth climb!) Bodmin beast just the right length to get a couple of laps in Car Parking reasonable at £2 for 2 hours or £3 for all day

What could be improved?

Hells teeth (20% avg climb!) needs very low gearing, 1x10 setups will probably be pushing! No full dedicated Red trail only 2 diversions off the Bodmin beast trail

Would you recommend?

*Yes*

Cornish cracker

I love Cardinham. The blue trail flows fantastically with prolonged grin inducing descents. The scenery is lovely. Lots of fast berms to perfect your cornering technique. The two red sections are nice options. The climb to Hell's Teeth is a steep one, but you're rewarded with a steep rocky berm filled descent. It's great fun and a relief to reach the bottom in one piece. The main drawback is that there's only one trail, although mixing up the blue and red options provides some variation. Each time I've been I've done two laps, one with the blue trail only and the second time the blue with red sections. Always worth the hour trip that it takes to get there. Top trail.

What do you like?

Fast, flowing trail Hell's teeth is a really cracking red section Great scenery

What could be improved?

Only one route (although variations in sections is possible)

Cardinham Woods

Cardinham Woods has been a regular family day out for a number of years now. The trails through the woods are a great place to walk or cycle with my wife and my 9 Year old daughter. This year we have been concentrating on improving my daughters off road skills and find that the Bodmin Beast is an excellent place to do this. Each time we go we take her on a different section (approx 1 - 1.5 km) of the blue route trail as part of our ride. Her riding has improved enormously and she thoroughly enjoys completing each section and often asks to do it again. I regularly ride the Bodmin Beast (1 or 2 times a week) and enjoy it more each time. The track drains well when it rains and the trees provide good protection from the wind and more recently, the sun . The cafe does a nice coffee and provides a convenient rest stop between circuits.

What do you like?

Well maintained track with plenty of passing points (or rest stops if you fancy a gentler ride) and a good balance of climbs and descents along with some nice technical sections. Good cafe and car parking. Some great walks for when you banjax the bike.

What could be improved?

It can get pretty busy on the weekends so parking can sometimes be a tad awkward but always possible.

Would you recommend?

*Yes*

Bodmin Beast

I don't confess to be an expert mountain biker but ridden the Bodmin Beast about 70 times now. It is close to home for me 15min drive and is excellent value for money we have paid the £25 a year membership so do not pay to park. Even at £3 per day parking without membership you can have a great day out in the woods. I have never ridden my bike anywhere else so I cannot speak from other experiences. I find the ride fun and challenging (The faster you go the more challenging it gets speaks for itself). It is a completely different challenge in the wet to in the dry. I have seen quite a few deer a large bird of pray quite a few times and lots of other wildlife, you just cannot get better than that when out riding. I have found everyone (apart from one school group) always let faster riders past which I think is excellent. I have also taken quite a few friends with me and all without exception have really enjoyed the challenge of riding the Bodmin Beast. Since riding it I have also lost 2st in weight felling so much better health wise. Someone said I should join one of the fitness classes at the local sports center I asked how much that cost £35 a month membership. My response was I will carry on riding the Bodmin Beast at £25 per year. I can also get four people in for that price.

What do you like?

Excellent price. More than just bike riding the BBQ and walks are great for the whole family. Really clean Good parking Toilets are always cleaned Good cafe Good play areas for young children

What could be improved?

I have not experienced any and have used the membership around 70 times this year alone.

Would you recommend?

*Yes*

Cardinham Woods Trails Review

First visit proved very enjoyable; not the most technical or gnarly of venues but plenty of climbs and descents to keep you smiling. The trails flowed well and the additional Red runs, kept things interesting. A place where you can just enjoy your ride and have fun. A good morning or afternoon venue, with a Stonkin cafe!

What do you like?

Good parking Well maintained Nice flow No dramas Lots of fun

What could be improved?

Could be longer Additional reds or maybe a black would be great Struggling to see much wrong, but those who want a technical and/or scary ride should look somewhere

Would you recommend?

*Yes*
