If you haven't been you need too. If you need to get fit and have a limited time, hit the follow the dog trail. If you want a longer ride, more challenging and technicial, follow the monkey trail which will add another 6mile/1 hour to your ride.
Also, be friendly, say hi and help those in need.
What do you like?
Great circuit to challenge your fitness ability. The follow the dog trail is great because its not overly technically as it has a variety of tracks styles, plenty of decents and climbs and enables you to challenge yourself and better improve your skills and fitness.
Follow the dog takes around 50 mins on a fair ride, it has a few nice climbs to get the heart racing and plenty downhill, humps and burns you can take with a consistent speed while required a level of fitness to push you to the limits. There are plenty of rocks, pebbles and roots to encourage you to find the best route and keep you on edge, sometimes tactfully throughing you off balance.
The parking is good, £1.50 for an hour if you can do it in a quick time. Toilets are clean and tidy. Nice shops and food. Its in a nice location for the midlands. I ride it every week without fail just for fitness mainly and I'm still not board of it. After some time its great to get some strava results.
What could be improved?
The track gets plenty of use and will be busy in peak times, but most people around are quick to move out the way should you be much faster. I find the dusk time is the best time to go to avoid traffic. Because of he high use, some sections, typically the burns tend to be pitted which means you have to risk running high up the burn to avoid the uncomfortable ride at risk to sliding over.
Seems that some of the inexperienced riders will hit the back brakes to hard in sections which is create pits and foul corners.
On the whole though, it doesnt take to much away from the ride.
Would you recommend?
*Yes*
