has nice ice cream too...
What do you like?
I learned to ride a mountain bike here, so have a soft spot for it. But having ridden numerous other centres (including BPW, Gisburn etc) I still think it's great. The dog is a nice ride, but fairly tame, and the monkey steps it up a level with some great technical riding. Some of the black options are very tricky, and so cannock has something to test most riders. Chase trails put a huge amount of effort into maintaining and upgrading, and have done a great job. The recently updated lower cliff descent is fantastic, with huge swooshy berms.
good cafe, ice cream and bike shop too. Oh, and a gruffalo if you like that sort of thing.
What could be improved?
No serious bad points.
If I had to nit-pick, the terrain seems to have a fair amount of loose gravel compared to many places, and this has caused me numerous crashes when trying to push hard round the bends.
Also it can be quite slow and twisty in certain places, where I sometimes wish I had a 26er, not 29er.
People complain about the volume of bike traffic on weekends but I've never found it a problem.
Only major problem for me is having to contend with the truly awful M6 to get there by car.
Would you recommend?
*Yes*
