Description
Crychan Forest MTB trails are made up of rugged natural cross country mountain bike trails and family friendly way marked man-made trails. Situated half way between Llandovery and Llanwrtyd Wells in Carmarthenshire, South West Wales it is also quite close to the Brecon Beacons and not too far from Brechfa.

For clarity, the way marked trails are not the traditional blues reds and blacks they are really just family friendly MTB trails. The more rugged riding to satisfy the intermediate and expert level riders is to be found exploring the natural XC, of which there is a lot. Hence a map or a guide are recommended.
There are no facilities bar car parking and for that, there is a large choice of four (see here)
Family Trails
- The family focussed bike trails are all way marked and range from 4km to 14km in distance. See here for more details of each trail.
Natural Cross Country
- The natural riding has a reputation of being good but hard to navigate. It is technical off road single track, rocky tracks, rugged double track trails and gravel forest road. You will discover sweeping fast descents, really steep descents, rooty descents and along the climbs some absolutely stunning views. We could not find many mapped routes but MTB Wales have a 24-mile route here.
Events
- A good way to discover the terrain is to do annual the Red Kite Bash. Check the Red Kite for the next one.
