Description
Dirt Farm previously known as The Black Mountains Cycle Centre (BMCC) is a Downhill and Freeride Mountain Bike facility in Monmouthshire in Wales (just 5 miles North of Abergavenny). It is targeted at intermediate to professional riders.

There is one main blue (made up of 5 mix and match sections), one main red (made up of 4 mix and match sections), and two black runs (made up of 6 mix and match sections including a pro jump line option. There are quite a few combinations to make up a run.
You can book the uplift, or you can pay for push and ride. It takes a good 20-25 minutes to walk up if you go for the push and ride option but then folk often session just the top half section as there are multiple line choices. Either way, you need to sign the waiver.
Blue - Intermediate
- The blue is flowing with berms and jumps. It rides fast and is made up of the below sections.
- Berm Baby Berm has many berms including several switchbacks. It finishes with a roller double which spits you out to join 'Full Moto'
- Missing Link is fast-flowing. Includes step-downs and berms
- Rabbit Run is a rollercoaster and a good warm-up trail packed full of fun, twisty, pumps, and jumps
- Superflo is fast-flowing with small jumps.
- Well Oiled Weasel is twisty, tight, and full of berms
Red - Advanced
- The red steps it up a gear and have some steeper more technical rooty sections. It is fast having off-camber corners, bridge crossings, and wooden kickers. Section descriptions as below:
- Moto uses the bridge as a start ramp. Full of jumps, tables, doubles, and steps downs.
- Outback full of roots and rocks leading into berms and jumps, then steep down to the 'Bridge'.
- Red Dragon with a chute. into a tabletop with a couple of berms to join with either 'G Force' or 'Outback'.
- The Bridge crosses over the uplift track. It has a steep ramp for speed and momentum for the Moto section.
- Wild Wood is a flowing single track with technical rot and drop features
Black(s) - Expert
- There are three black runs. These are rocky, steep, and fast with big jumps, gap jumps, step-downs, and also passes over the bridge. There is also a huge pro jump line. Section descriptions as below:
- Bompah is full of step-ups and step-down jumps with gaps. To get the best out of the trail it needs to be ridden fast as the rhythm section can catch you out. It has a trail gap and a bridge drop to finish.
- Brown Pow has a natural feel that is fast and flowing with lots of roots and rocks. It features three steep back-to-back berms which lead down to the 'Bridge'.
- G Force is a fast-flowing black line consisting of big roots, rocks, step-downs, and step-ups. This section leads you down to the Bridge.
- Ninja Alley is a fast alley full of step-down jumps which can join Full Moto.
- The Gary is the original downhill trail. It is very direct, steep and fast with a few drops.
- Tidy Darts is a fun fast fast-flowing jumps section. It starts off with a chute which leads into three table-top jumps followed by a right-hand berm and a step-down.
Pro
- Full Moto is the jump line. It begins with a step down double over a berm leading into another step down followed by two forty-foot tables. The trail then narrows into a step-down and step-ending with two big jumps.
Other Stuff
- It was designed and built by Gary Broad and Shaun Bevan.
- Dirt Farm is open from 10 am- 6 pm every day except Monday and Tuesday. They also run an evening uplift on Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 4 pm – 8 pm. Check their site for up-to-date booking and timings.
- You need to book and pay in advance. Uplifts run every day over the weekend. Uplifts also run during the week depending on the time of year. Please check the booking calendar to see if an uplift is running.
- You must sign a waiver (available online when booking) before riding and the Riders Code of Conduct must be always adhered to.
- Limited facilities bar a car park (small so car sharing preferred) and portaloo so come prepared and bring lunch, drinks, etc with you.
