Why so grippious?
Youve got to go here. No matter how long the drive is, just go. The staff are fantastic (uplift drivers in particular deserve all the beer that I hope they get). Make sure to speak to them and ask what they recommend. Most people that work there know the trails well and can stop you going down something above your ability, or just not what youre looking for.
Get there early. Youve got toget the runs in to appreciate the bikepark. Explore the various ways down, and take in some of the longer runs that take time.
Cycle up! The uplift is great, but so is the ride up. Its actually pretty easy and very beautiful. You can also ride back up from the half way fire road, which cuts out the harder bit of the climb. If youre into your enduro this is really the perfect practise for you!
Highly recommended.
What do you like?
Arhhhhh yeahhhhhhh! So much shred! So much fun! You just cant not have a wicked day at bikepark wales. Awesome trails with loads of techy features to test and develop skills.
What could be improved?
Its all a bit 'samey' and id personally like loads more variety in terms of natural/muddy trails that dont ride well all year.
I also dont like the fact that I can pin pretty much everything I hit at any speed, knowing itll hold. This happens because the gravel they use is so grippy that when you hit a berm, the earth shifts off it's axis a bit, rather than you washing out. For this, id prefer just 1-2 more trails that arent really managed. Some stuff that is purposefully 'trimmed' but not smoothed out like the rest of the bike park.
Would you recommend?
Yes
