The amazing Bike Park Wales
Go have a blast there, Maybe do a day at BPW and another elsewhere in the area to make the best of the weekend.
What do you like?
Bike Par Wales has to be the best place for the organised riding of a mountain Bike in the UK.
I have been a number of times now over the last year including on the 1 year anniversary when we thought it would be packed and crowded, but due to the limit on the number of riders on the hill from the uplift you can't really go wrong. once you set off from the top it is like all other trail centres only with many repeatable runs which you can keep riding until you nail it.
I went with a friend this weekend who was a little unsure about what to expect, he hired a bike from the brilliant guys in the shop and of we went on the blues. By lunch he had the confidence to try a couple of the short red diversions from the blues. By the end of the day he was having a great time, riding reds such as Bonniville which is one of the trickier runs.
While I think about it, i need to mention just how good the mechanics are there, when i split my chain ring in two while they didn't have a replacement one, one of the guys had one he had brought for his bike in his car and offered to sell it to me and fit it. properly over and above the expected service at a trail centre in my opinion.
Having ridden in a few amazing places such as Fort William and the Alps as examples, I would put BPW up there with the best, and can't recommend it enough. I could keep on writing about how amazing it is to have a place like this just down the M4 but just go there and try it yourself and you will see how good it is.
There are loads of places to stay, I would say go with mates and either rent a cottage or camp.
What could be improved?
It is hard to get booked up, but the extra buses (now 7 at weekends) have made that better. And you wouldn't want it much busier.
Would you recommend?
Yes
