Description

Berwyn Bike Park is a private, gravity-focused MTB venue in the Berwyn Mountains near Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog, Denbighshire, Wales. Run by local crew under David Addison, it packs a mix of tech, root and natural downhill lines plus built jump sections into wooded hillside terrain, with uplift laid on for scheduled ride and race days. Riding is by permission only, on the days the crew are running.

The Trails

Berwyn is a dedicated downhill and gravity venue rather than a formally graded trail centre, so there is no official blue, red or black waymarking. The riding suits intermediate to advanced riders, with a mix of natural, root-strewn forest lines and more built, bike park style sections featuring berms and jumps. New lines and reroutes are added regularly by the local trail crew, so the exact layout can change between visits.

  • Forest lines: technical, natural terrain through wooded ground with roots, drops and multiple line choices on most runs.
  • Bike park sections: built berms and jumps for a faster, flow-oriented style of riding.
  • Finish arena: tracks funnel down to a flat field finish area used for races and events.

For a look at the riding, watch this top to bottom POV lap.

Uplift and Events

Uplift is not available every weekend. It runs on scheduled ride and race days, announced via Instagram and Facebook, with tickets sold through Eventbrite. Because this is private land, riding outside of these organised days is not permitted, so check the socials before planning a visit.

Getting Here

Berwyn Bike Park, Llanarmon, LL20 7LH. From The Hand at Llanarmon (LL20 7LD), follow the Swch-Cae-Rhiw road for around 3 miles into the hills. The park entrance is the first left after the red telephone box. The approach road is narrow with limited passing space, so allow extra time on event days. Llangollen and Oswestry, both a short drive away, have shops, cafes and accommodation for a longer stay.
