Description

Flims / Laax

Flims Laax is a major Swiss bike resort spanning three villages, Flims, Laax and Falera, with a lift-served network of eight graded trails from green to black plus a huge alpine and forest network beyond them. It's uplift-accessed via cable car, with everything from a beginner-friendly green run to the 1,150m-vertical Never End freeride descent, and seven waymarked gravel loops if you want to explore beyond the singletrack.

The Trails

  • Foppa (Green): around 3.5km, a beginner-friendly singletrail ideal for a first trail-riding experience.
  • Gronda (Blue): a style trail with berms and small jumps, linking Runca to Foppa.
  • Runca (Red): split into an upper section with jumps, banked turns and a jump line at Runcahöhe, and a lower section through forest described as extremely flowing and technically clean. Around 7.6km combined.
  • Segnes (Red): 3.7km of technical enduro riding over stone slabs, switchbacks, jumps and berms.
  • Nagens and Green Valley (Red): 5.9km combined, enduro terrain through alpine meadows, forest passages and root-laden singletrack, with technical sections throughout.
  • Never End (Black): a freeride descent dropping 1,150m from 2,228m to 1,020m, with northshore features, drops and tables.
  • Vorab and Crest la Siala: high-altitude alpine routes for experienced riders wanting to go further, including a slickrock descent from 2,571m.

Gravel Riding

Beyond the graded trails, Flims Laax has seven waymarked gravel loops running across the wider region, from smooth gravel roads through the forest to routes reaching the Rhine Gorge and the mountain lakes. It's a genuinely good gravel destination in its own right, not just a link between MTB trails, and works well as an easier day out or a way to see more of the area beyond the lift-served network.

Beyond the Trails

Flims Laax is a full alpine resort, not just a bike park. Base yourself in Laax's village hotels or holiday apartments, or camp locally, and you're within reach of three mountain lakes (Lake Cauma, Lake Cresta and the Laaxersee) for a post-ride swim, plus the Rhine Gorge, the UNESCO World Heritage Sardona site, and a wellness and via ferrata offering if you want a rest day. There's a full range of restaurants and mountain huts across the resort for refuelling after a big descent.

Getting Here

The main uplift base is the Laax Murschetg valley station, where the cable car runs up to Crap Sogn Gion for the start of the freeride trails. Bike hire, repairs and guided tours are available on site through LAAX Rental and the LAAX School, alongside a bike wash and a skills area with a pump track for warming up before you hit the trails.
