local rider lucky enough to ride here on a weekly basis

Remote epic Scottish mountains. Best natural mountain biking in the uk and to rival a lot of places in the world. This is remote, so you MUST carry everything you need to maintain your bike and also survive yourself for 24hours if things go wrong(1.25000 map and knowing how to re-section your location is a skill you should have)The weather is highly changeable so even on hot summers days at sea level carrying warm clothing and water proofs is a must. Let some one know where you are going (route card) and eta. A high level of bike fitness is required for the climbs and to enjoy the descents with a good level of technical ability. I spend at least 2 weekends a month riding here as I live in loch carron and have extensive knowledge of the area. It is truly one of the top natural riding locations in Europe but needs to be respected. The only place I know of in the uk with a 2500ft ascent and descent in one go! Good pubs food and ale at applecross and torridon.
