Description

Ride Ness Bike Park is a planned mountain bike trail centre at Glendoe Estate, near Fort Augustus on the shores of Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands. Planning permission was granted by Highland Council in February 2026, with construction expected to begin in 2026. The park is not yet open. Follow Ride Ness on Facebook for build updates.

The Planned Trails

  • 24km of graded mountain bike trails from blue to black, all starting from a single trailhead on the western flank of Borlum Hill.
  • Descents of two to five kilometres accessed by a dedicated year-round uplift service.
  • A skills park, coaching zone and jump line at the heart of the park.
  • 7km of multi-use paths available to walkers.
  • A downhill racetrack.

Planned Facilities

  • Hub building (846sqm) with cafe and retail.
  • Bike hire, bike store and bike wash.
  • Up to 40 motorhome and campervan pitches and 8 shepherd's huts for overnight accommodation.
  • Children's play area and landscaped picnic areas.
  • Parking accessed from the B862 north of Fort Augustus.
  • A bus pick-up and drop-off service between the site and Fort Augustus village centre is planned.

The Project

  • Ride Ness is the work of Andrew Vernon, whose family have owned Glendoe Estate since the 1950s, and Neil Campbell, a lifelong mountain biker and trail builder from Beauly. The site is set across 700 acres with a vertical drop of over 1,100 feet, a five-minute walk from Fort Augustus.
