A good challenge for people who can ride bikes
We rode the XC trail one afternoon after having ridden at Newcastleton in the morning. This made an already tough climb even harder! The climb from the bottom is 425 vertical metres according to Strava, and it feels every yard of that, but once having gained the summit of Minch Moor and taken in the great views the descent is brilliant and really worth the effort, with more extreme routes for better riders. This route is definitely more full-on than the Glentress red trail, though there is a shortcut which lessens the pain but does miss out some of the best sweeping descent from the top.
What do you like?
A decent challenging route
descents are a lot of fun
lots of friendly riders about
great scenery
What could be improved?
a lot of uphill with some slippery black rocks thrown in
one Portaloo
Would you recommend?
*Yes*
