Anagach Woods MTB Trails, Grantown on Spey

Anagach Woods MTB Trails is a small skills park on the edge of Grantown-on-Spey, opened in March 2012 and used mainly by local riders. A short green, blue and red graded line plus a three-line jump area give beginners and improvers somewhere to build skills close to town. The wider Anagach Woods, nearly 1,000 acres of community-owned woodland managed by the Anagach Woods Trust, also carries a network of waymarked forest tracks good for gravel and family riding.

Anagach Woods MTB Trails is a small skills park on the edge of Grantown-on-Spey, opened in March 2012 and used mainly by local riders. A short green, blue and red graded line plus a three-line jump area give beginners and improvers somewhere to build skills close to town. The Trails

• Green line: short, beginner-friendly graded route through the skills park.
• Blue line: intermediate graded route.
• Red line: more technical graded route.
• Jump line: three distinct lines for progressing jumps.
• Wider Anagach Woods: natural, ungraded trail riding through the broader woodland beyond the skills park.

Gravel Riding

Beyond the skills park, Anagach Woods carries an extensive network of waymarked, colour-coded forest tracks on good natural surfacing, suitable for gravel bikes with reasonably robust tyres. Routes range from short loops of around 1.3 to 1.8km up to a longer red-graded loop of around 8km with some singletrack sections, and they can be combined into longer rides. They start from the Forest Road car park (PH26 3JL) or the additional parking at the south end of Forest Road (PH26 3HH) near the curling pond. Note: these routes use their own colour-coding for walking and gravel difficulty, separate from the green, blue and red grading used in the MTB skills park above, so do not confuse the two when planning a visit.

Getting Here

Head towards Grantown-on-Spey on the A95 until you reach the roundabout where it joins the A939. There is a small car park just off the roundabout, easy to miss, on the edge of the Ladies Garden woods, right by the MTB skills park.

• Alternative parking for the wider woods and gravel routes: Forest Road car park (PH26 3JL), with further spaces at the south end of Forest Road (PH26 3HH) near the curling pond.
• The Anagach Woods car park itself is small. If it is full, park in one of the car parks in town instead, for example Burnfield Road car park, a few minutes' walk away and also the nearest public toilets.
• No rail station in Grantown-on-Spey. The nearest is Aviemore, around 24km away via the A95.

Local Organisation

Anagach Woods is managed by the Anagach Woods Trust (Scottish Charity SC032822), the community body that has run the woodland since 2002. The Trust posts updates on Facebook.
