Description

The Nevis Range Mountain Bike Trail Centre is on the Nevis range in the Lochaber region just north of Fort William in the Scottish Highlands.

Like this?

It is made up of a multitude of top MTB trails offering a mix of Downhill and XC for all abilities. It is famous for being home to the World Champs course and the only center in the UK with a Gondola. There are three Downhill tracks and a multitude of Cross-Country trails in the Lower Forest area.

Downhill Tracks

World Cup Downhill (Orange) - Gondola Accessed

  • The only way to get up this trail is by the Gondola. It is open March to September and shut outside those dates as well as on race days and bad weather days. It is the UK's only World Cup DH track.
  • The trail is graded extreme and is 2.82km long and has a descent of 555m. It's steep, fast, full of rock gardens, tight steep corners, big jumps, drops, shore, exposed sections, and woodland sections. It ends in the Nevis Range car park.

Top Chief – (Black Graded) - Gondola Accessed

  • The only way to get up this trail is also by the Gondola. It has drops, rock slabs and fast boardwalk.

Nevis Blue Doon – (Blue Graded) - Gondola Accessed

  • Longest blue in the UK this is full of flow for intermediate riders.

Berminator (Blue)

  • Lower trail blue-graded flow trail is designed for maximum fun and now serves as the official finish to the iconic Blue Doon.

Cross Country- Lower Forest

  • The Lower Forest Witch's Trails are open all year round and start from the Nevis Range.

The Voodoo (Blue Graded)

  • For novice riders with berms and flowing descents.

Blue Adder (Blue Graded)

  • The Blue Adder blue-graded cross-country descent is 3.1km long, is a mix of wide single track and gently bermed wide boardwalk, followed by a series of flowing twists and turns. It has mini features to encourage the skills of budding downhillers while remaining in keeping with cross country trail standards. There is a 2km forest road climb as part of the route that is then followed by the 1.1km descent.

World Champs route (Red)

  • This trail was built for the World Champs and World Cup circuit is graded red and is 8.5 km long running through the Leanachan forest. It has many technical sections and given the terrain has tough ups and fast descents.

Wild Goat – (Red Graded)

  • Fast and full of berms, it’s the perfect end to a rough lap down Top Chief. There is also a side option to ride the World Cup 4X track.

Black Crane – (Black Graded)

  • Steep, fast, rock gardens, natural feel and rooty

Cackle – (Black Graded)

  • Steep, natural, rooty and a rock gardens

4X

  • the 4X is black graded with big jumps and gnarly turns. 4 riders can race side by side.

One Dot – Orange Graded

Riding the WC track

Brilliant place, go ride there if you get the chance

What do you like?

Went riding after the World Cup this year. The tracks there are something else, you learn fast how to ride off rocks and drops riding the red and WC runs a few times, was amazing, if you get the chance to go up there it is well worth the trip! The Nevis Range is a brilliant place great for facilities and the cafe!

What could be improved?

You need to have some skills and confidence here. MIDGES - absoloute nightmare. get u the hill and away as soon as you can.

Would you recommend?

*Yes*

Love it

I've been here to watch the world cups and ridden the blue and red trails. The blue route was very fun with some nice uphill single track and probably the steepest blue descent I've seen borderline red. The red route I did was the best downhill I have ever done. The climb goes on forever with glorious view. Then at the top it just chucks you back down with the biggest grin. There's a bit of xc in there as well. And then obviously there's the world cup downhill track with gondola uplift. Not been brave enough to do that. But the cafe at the tops really good. It's probably my favourite centre. I want to move here.

What do you like?

Downhill mecca Decent variety of trails Uplift gondola Breath taking views

What could be improved?

It's too far away from my house

Would you recommend?

*Yes*
