Yer Tiz at Leigh Woods gets accessibility-focused refurb for spring 2026

Forestry England have started refurbishing the Yer Tiz blue trail at Leigh Woods, near Bristol, with the upgraded route planned to be ready for spring 2026. The project is being delivered with trail design and build by On Track and aims to make the loop rideable for a wider range of riders, including those using non-standard or adapted mountain bikes, while keeping the same fun, flowing character riders know from Yer Tiz.

Leigh Woods sits on the edge of Bristol above the Avon Gorge, where Forestry England work closely with local charity Ride Bristol to support off-road cycling in the forest. Yer Tiz is the main blue-grade singletrack loop here, with berms, rollers and optional red sections, and is currently listed by Forestry England as partially closed for refurbishment until around March 2026.

Temporary diversions and access

While work is underway, visitors are being asked to follow signed diversions and to ride and walk considerately around the site:

  • Yer Tiz start diverted: the start of the Yer Tiz cycle trail is currently routed along the Purple walking trail. Riders are asked to slow down, give way to pedestrians and be especially considerate on shared sections.
  • Red walking trail: the Red walking trail remains open but is running with a diversion in place due to tree felling work in the woods.
  • Purple walking trail: the Purple walking trail is open, with cyclists using the final stretch as part of the diversion. Forestry England are warning visitors to expect extra traffic and to be aware of other users.

Forestry England say they will share further updates as the refurb progresses and as more detail is confirmed on the final layout and features of the upgraded trail. Yer Tiz is currently shown as partially closed for refurbishment on the Leigh Woods cycling information pages.
