Unsanctioned Trail in Sheffield, Trippet Wood, Taken Down

An unsanctioned Trail in Tripper Wood in Sheffiled has been taken down by the local Friends of Porter Valley community group.

Like this?

From what we can gather from the Friends group blog leading up to this were concerns around the scale of the development, damage due to excavation, its designation as ancient woodland and proximity to a Local Nature Reserve (LNR) which brings with it enhanced legal protection. You can read the blog from the Friends of Porter Valley here.

Also there is a lot of understandable community angst on both sides and concern on a lack of engagement between the two communites leading up to this. You can read more on the Ride Sheffield Facebook group.

A good organisation to help and guide in these situations and who may be able to help is the UK MTB Trail Alliance who are dedicated to supporting trail associations, informal trail groups and bike parks. Hopefully the community groups involved can find a way forward with what is clearly a sensitive issue.
