According to updates from the Sutton Bank National Park Centre team, the redevelopment will include a new extension loop alongside resurfacing and refreshing features on the existing loop. The work will add rollers, berms, pedal-and-play features and a mix of riding surfaces designed to help younger riders build confidence and develop basic trail skills.
Contractors and machinery are currently operating around the site, and the Bike Skills Area will remain closed throughout March while the work continues.
Sutton Bank Bikes sits within the wider Sutton Bank National Park Centre riding area on the edge of the North York Moors in North Yorkshire. The centre acts as a hub for riding in the area and provides access to a range of trails including the 4.8km green-graded Cliff Trail, the 9km Blue Fort Trail (with an optional extended 12km route), and the longer 27km Paradise red MTB trail. Alongside these loops the site also includes a pump track, cyclo-cross course and the skills area opposite the bike centre. The trails are known for their more natural feel and the views across the surrounding escarpment and moorland.
The redevelopment focuses on the beginner and youth riding space beside the centre, expanding the existing loop and refreshing the surface and features so the area flows more smoothly for practice sessions.
While the skills area is temporarily closed, other riding around Sutton Bank remains accessible.
Coming up at Sutton Bank
The centre is also hosting an upcoming event, the Sutton Bank MTB Demo Day, giving riders the chance to try a range of bikes on the local trails.
