Shoreham Bike Park has given a project update, saying two of the steps it had been waiting on have now been cleared.

The group said legal advice on the charity status of the land has been completed, confirming the project can proceed without needing approval from the Charity Commission. It also said its business plan, for a free, community-led bike park, has been submitted and accepted. According to the update, the next steps are an independent report to support the lease, followed by Heads of Terms.

The latest news follows a series of updates tracking the project's progress with Adur and Worthing Councils. In March, iBikeRide reported the project was still waiting on a lease before it could move forward on funding, planning or construction, with no public explanation given for the delay. In April, the group said the council was getting quotes for the legal work and had assigned a dedicated project lead, which it described as the first real progress in a while. That update also noted Tom Rutland MP was backing the project, with his team kept informed as it develops.

The group said there are still hurdles to clear but described the latest update as the biggest progress made in a long time. It thanked supporters and said it would continue to post updates.
