Sheffield City Council is consulting on planned improvements at Concord Park and Woolley Wood in Sheffield, including feedback on the final design for a proposed all-wheels facility with a tarmacked pump track and separate beginners track.
Like this?
The council says the wider improvement programme aims to raise the overall quality of the site, encourage increased use, and help more people access the health and wellbeing benefits of local parks and greenspace. Alongside the all-wheels facility, the project page also links to earlier engagement and current questionnaires intended to help prioritise spending and shape future improvement plans.
All-wheels facility
The current proposal includes a new all-wheel tarmacked pump track, a beginners track, a new club storage facility and club area, with the possibility of a multi-function area for learning to ride, accessible bikes and other wheeled sports equipment. The council says the all-wheels track would be built on the disused bowling greens, between the playground and the multi-use games area.
The same design section also lists related site improvements alongside the facility, including better path connections, seating, park infrastructure, lighting, biodiversity enhancements, and drainage works.
Wider park consultation
The project page includes a follow-up consultation for Concord Park and Woolley Wood, described as a way to gather views on how people use the space now, what improvements they want prioritised, and how the park and outdoor facilities could be better linked with the planned rebuild of Concord Sports Centre in 2027. It also references engagement work to prioritise spending of £100,000 of Public Health funding currently allocated to the site.
Earlier engagement and survey results
The page links to a consultation summary from late 2022 (run from 25 October 2022 to 7 December 2022) on priority improvements for Concord Park, and it also publishes results from an “All Wheels Park” survey (116 responses) covering participation, preferred facility type, desired features (including separated skill-level zones and learn-to-ride areas), and practical amenities such as seating, litter bins and lighting.
