Take Care of Your Trails (TCoYT), the pan-European trail maintenance campaign coordinated by IMBA Europe, marked its 10th anniversary this year, with the 2026 edition closing at the end of May. Scotland has been named Best Nation for the year, recognising the highest number of registered dig days on the TCoYT map.

The award carries extra weight given the campaign's roots. TCoYT began as a pilot project run by Developing Mountain Biking in Scotland (DMBinS), with IMBA Europe adopting the concept in 2017 to turn it into a pan-European event.
A decade of dig days
Based on annual reporting from participating crews and IMBA Europe's trail reports, the campaign's impact over its first ten years is estimated to include:
- π 19 countries reached across Europe
- π§βπ€βπ§ 100+ trail crews contributing annually
- π΅ More than 10,950 volunteers engaged
- β±οΈ 63,100+ volunteer hours invested in trail stewardship
- π οΈ An estimated 1,900+ kilometres of trails maintained
IMBA Europe describes these as rough, consolidated estimates based on annual reporting submitted during the campaign month of May, rather than independently verified totals.
This year's other award winners
Alongside Best Nation, three further awards were handed out this year.
- Outstanding Local Trail Crew: Ride in Yssingeaux, France, recognised for its inclusive approach to trail stewardship and partnerships with other local user groups.
- Trail Advocate of the Year: Radu Papiu of Trailsilvania, Romania, credited with building trails around his hometown of Baia Mare before going on to help develop the association's wider network.
- Trail Advancement Award: Maurizio Rossi of North N Line Trail Crew, Italy, who has worked on trail monitoring, signage and maintenance coordination since 2017. The award, new this year, comes with a scholarship to attend the Trail Builder Management Course in Norway this autumn.
IMBA Europe thanked this year's campaign sponsors and partners, H+I Adventures, SRAM, Much More Trails and Eco-Counter.
