Afan Forest, one of Wales’ most established trail centres, is based near Port Talbot in South Wales. It’s home to a wide mix of mountain bike trails including long-distance epics like Skyline and Blade, as well as shorter loops, a skills area, and family-friendly options. The trails span steep valley sides and forested ridgelines, offering something for a range of rider levels.

Blade and Skyline trails are now officially back open following extended closures caused by storm damage. While some sections remain closed, diversions are in place so riders can still enjoy the bulk of each route.
The closures were part of wider storm recovery efforts after significant damage caused by high winds, fallen trees, and erosion. Natural Resources Wales and local trail crews have been steadily working to reopen sections where safe and possible. This marks a big step in that recovery, with more trail openings expected over the next couple of weeks.
Maps showing the latest trail layout, including diversions, have been shared by the trail team. Riders are advised to check signage on site and respect any temporary closures for safety.
