Red Revolution at Dyfi Bike Park: How Six Trails are Transforming the Riding Experience

Dyfi Bike Park has undergone significant evolution since its inception, transforming from a hardcore destination with predominantly black-diamond-rated trails to a more inclusive venue offering a range of experiences for riders of various skill levels. The park now boasts six red-rated trails, making it more accessible to intermediate riders while still maintaining its reputation for challenging terrain.

Here's a breakdown of the red trails currently available at Dyfi Bike Park:

Super Swooper:

As the name suggests, this trail features large swooping berms and flowing tabletops, offering a smooth and enjoyable ride for intermediate riders.

Lovey Dyfi:

Lovely Dyfi

A mellower, flowy 4.4km track that serves as an excellent introduction to the bike park. It follows the valley at the Western edge of the park before joining the bottom section of 50 Hits.

Muddy's Berms:

Muddy Berms

This trail focuses on cornering technique, featuring successive berms that challenge riders to maintain controlled speed and proper weight distribution.

Cedar Rapids:

Cedar Rapids

Known for its swift flow and picturesque setting, this trail is perfect for riders looking to improve their speed coming out of turns. It includes the Cedar Tree section, which offers two distinct jump lines for different skill levels.

Dirty Dishes:

Above the café lies a short, mellow jump-line, affectionately named by our beloved designer Dora, "because you have to clear the tables." It's an excellent area to hone your speed control; approach with caution, pinpoint your landing to seamlessly transition into the next section, or gain momentum down the slope towards Café Express. Featuring bowls, tables, hips, and dips, it's more compact than most in the park, making it an ideal spot to perfect your whips. Alternatively, you can enjoy a coffee while watching friends show off their skills on this unique end to the 50 hits or the Lower Mountain trails.

Turns in the Ferns:

This 1km trail features berms, fades, and shark-fins, providing a varied riding experience before rejoining the 50 Hits trail for the bottom section.

In addition to these red trails, Dyfi Bike Park continues to offer a range of more challenging options:

  • Six single black diamond trails (50 Hits, Insta 360-Flowstate, Original DH, Helter Skelter, El Hippo and Old Trail Line)
  • One double black diamond trail (Race Track)
  • Four triple black diamond tracks (Slab Track, Oakley - Icon Way, Fire in the Booth, and Gully of Doom )

The park also provides uplift services, which can be booked through its website, and is conveniently located near the Machynlleth & Dyfi Mountain Bike Base on the southern edge of Snowdonia National Park. With this expanded range of trails, Dyfi Bike Park has successfully broadened its appeal while maintaining its reputation as a destination for skilled riders seeking challenging terrain.
