Ride Sheffield announced the reopening via their Facebook group, thanking volunteers who helped on the day and inviting riders to share their feedback. The work cost around £25,000 and was funded entirely by mountain bikers. The group has asked riders to keep the trail litter-free and to take their first lap steady, noting that the trail runs fast and does not need much speed to ride well.
A couple of minor tweaks are still to be made during the week, with short local closures on sections of the trail while that work is carried out.
Pub Run is a red-graded flowing downhill trail and the most accessible of the three descents in the Greno loop. The full loop covers 5.3km with 210m of ascent and descent, pairing Pub Run with the red-graded Steel City, which has a black opt-in, and the black-graded DH3, which features several large but rollable jumps and a steep section toward the end.
Greno Woods has been home to mountain biking for as long as the sport has existed in this country, and provided the training ground for World Downhill Mountain Bike Champion Steve Peat. The trails have been funded from the outset by Peaty's Steel City DH, with Ride Sheffield managing and maintaining them, covering everything from new lines through to refurbs and revamps.
You can find the full trail listing, including directions and rider reviews, on iBikeRide. Ride Sheffield funds all trail work through rider donations, and you can support future projects via their Trail Fund.
