The Aberdeenshire Trail Association has launched a new blue-grade singletrack trail named Piccalilli in Balfour Forest, Aboyne. This new section links the top and bottom parts of the established Chutney trail, offering a better blue-grade return line and removing the need to use 'the traverse'.

The trail is currently a work in progress. Dry ground conditions have limited what can be built, but riders are encouraged to help bed it in over the summer. Once conditions improve, the crew will return to refine corners, add features, and enhance the flow.
Piccalilli adds to a varied trail network in the area. Balfour Forest MTB trails include both sanctioned and wild routes, maintained by the Aberdeenshire Trail Association in partnership with the Birse Community Trust. Trail options range from blue flow trails like Relish and Gruffalo Grump, to steeper technical lines such as Chutney Nudger, Dark Magic, Friends Electric, and Panic Button.
