New Red Trail Build at Hamsterley Forest

Hamsterley Trailblazers MTB have broken ground on a major new section of red trail linking 5 Lane Ends into Poltys. Built in the flowing style of Accelerator but around four times as long, the project has already secured £73,000 through club funds, legacy donations in memory of Richard Holloway, and support from Forestry England. More funds are still needed, with riders encouraged to donate via the Local Giving page. The group asks that riders don’t use the trail until it’s finished to avoid extra costs and delays.

This build adds to the established Red Trail at Hamsterley – a 14.5-mile red-graded figure-of-eight loop starting from Bedburn Car Park. The route begins on the Blue trail to the Grove before splitting off onto a mix of forest road and singletrack. It loops back past Descend Bike Park and returns via flowing single-track sections, making it a favourite for riders wanting a full XC outing.
