More Off-Piste Coming to Oneplanet Adventure at Llandegla

Oneplanet Adventure has confirmed that new “natural builds” are underway at Llandegla Forest, Wrexham, Wales, with the centre stating the trails are due to open “in the coming weeks” and that further plans are in place for its off piste network this year.

Like this?

Llandegla is best known for its waymarked blue, red and black loops, which form the core trail centre offer. Alongside those graded routes, Oneplanet has progressively developed an off piste network in recent years, adding steeper, more technical lines that sit outside the main waymarked loops. These are hand-cut, soil-based lines rather than surfaced trail centre construction. The off piste network has increasingly provided a different style of riding for returning visitors looking beyond the traditional blue, red and black circuits.

What we know

  • New natural trails are currently being built within Llandegla Forest.
  • Opening is planned “in the coming weeks”.
  • Oneplanet references further plans for the off piste trail network later this year.

What we do not yet know

  • How many individual lines are included in this phase.
  • Where these trails will sit in relation to the existing off piste network.
  • Whether the builds introduce additional technical features or remain predominantly natural and evolving.

Wider context

Llandegla has long been one of North Wales’ most established trail centres, drawing riders from across the North West of England and beyond. The continued expansion of the off piste side indicates an ongoing shift toward broadening the riding mix beyond the traditional graded loops. It be great to see more trail centres developing an official off piste trail network as nearly all have an unofficial one.

If you ride Llandegla regularly, where do you think the balance should sit between surfaced waymarked loops and more natural off piste lines?
