Mill Park in Bracknell, Berkshire is already known locally for its skate park, and a new pump track is now taking shape alongside it. Work started on site in mid September 2026, with Bracknell Town Council confirming the project this week.

The pump track is being funded through £80,500 of Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) contributions, money paid by developers towards local infrastructure. According to Bracknell News, the project follows around two years of consultation with local skateboarders about improving facilities in the town.

Mill Park was selected from around 40 town council managed parks in the borough, chosen for its distance from nearby housing and its existing base of skateboarders and cyclists. Specialist pump track designers and contractors Clark and Kent, who have delivered projects internationally including in the United States and Spain, have been appointed to build the track.

The asphalt track will cover approximately 495 square metres and is designed for bikes, scooters and skateboards. Bracknell Town Council says it is intended to be usable by riders of different ages and abilities, including people with disabilities.

Ian Evans, recreational facilities manager at Bracknell Town Council, told the Local Democracy Reporting Service the project has been years in the making and grew out of discussions with the town's skateboarding community. He said the council hopes the new track will bring more visitors into the park alongside the existing skate park, and that the aim is to give teenagers a positive outdoor space to spend time in.

Bracknell News reported that some residents have suggested the funding would have been better spent upgrading Mill Park's existing skate park. Evans responded that pump tracks are more universal and accessible across a wider age range, including for people with disabilities.

The site sits near Mill Park's balancing pond, which supports wildlife, and the council says biodiversity measures have been built into the design. Twelve trees are due to be planted around the new track, alongside additional grassed areas.

Construction is under way, with the council targeting an opening in early 2027, subject to completion of works and any necessary inspections and approvals.
