Kielder Trail Reavers, the volunteer group and registered charity behind two decades of mountain bike trail building at Kielder Forest, has announced it is beginning the process of dissolving.

In a statement posted to its Facebook page, the group said the pandemic had left it inactive for an extended period, and that the only realistic option now was to formally wind down. It thanked everyone who has volunteered with KTR over the last 20 years for their contribution to the growth of Kielder's mountain bike trail network.
Trail building and maintenance at Kielder will continue under Forestry England, and anyone interested in volunteering has been asked to contact Forestry England directly. KTR said further updates would follow as the dissolution progresses.
Forestry England has already taken over that role in the years following the pandemic.
Kielder offers green, blue, red and black graded trails alongside an orange-graded trials park, spread across more than 100 miles of trail. Give the Kielder Mountain Bike Trail Centre a rating for the Trail of the Year 2026 campaign whilst you're here.
