Gravitate North East (GNE) has submitted a community asset transfer request to Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS) for a 25-year lease over 1.24 hectares of land at Pitfichie Hill, near Monymusk, Aberdeenshire.

GNE is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (charity number SC046136), based in Aberdeen and established in 2015 to build mountain biking infrastructure in the northeast of Scotland.

What's proposed

The application sets out plans for a car park, a riders' paddock area, two mountain bike trails and toilets, along with rights to use the forest road for access, uplift vehicles, and event hosting. The land covered sits in the northern part of Pitfichie and Corrennie Forest.

Pitfichie is an established gravity venue combining FLS-graded routes with trails adopted by the Aberdeenshire Trail Association (ATA), and has hosted rounds of the Scottish Enduro Series. The application notes there are currently no formal visitor facilities on site, with riders and other users parking in logging laydown areas, the forest entrance, or passing places on the public road.

According to the application, several GNE trustees and members are also ATA volunteers and trail leads at Pitfichie, and the two organisations intend to continue working together on delivery.
